Lucretia Free founded the Southeast Regional Council (SERC) eight years ago with quarterly public meetings featuring Pima County Staff sharing pertinent information happening in Pima County’s District IV. Today SERC now (SEAC of Pima County) holds public meetings monthly with a larger format including the public services along with the county happenings.
In 2024, with a “Transitional Board,” SEAC secured its status as an Arizona nonprofit corporation from the Arizona Corporation Commission (501 (c) (4), entered into a contractual agreement with the Vail School District for a meeting room at Old Vail Middle School, and reached an agreement with The Vail Voice to print monthly articles from meeting transcripts of SEAC community meetings. Additionally, Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws were created. Subsequent to that time the Board of Directors of SEAC of Pima County decided to incorporate as a non-profit and broaden the scope of inclusiveness by working with both residents and businesses in the greater south eastern part of Pima County.
The future is bright for SEAC of Pima County because it has broadened the scope and has taken the organization into bigger and better things. We are thankful for the initial group, followed by the transition board who set the format for the organization, and believe that Lucretia’s vision will not only live on but will continue to become more and more valuable to the residents of south east Pima County.
